The White House may have reached too high when it posted an image of President Donald Trump as Superman on Thursday.

X, formerly known as Twitter, swung and attacked after the official White House social media account posted a Superman slap-up featuring Trump’s head plastered over Superman’s body, with the words: “THE SYMBOL OF HOPE. TRUTH. JUSTICE. THE AMERICAN WAY. SUPERMAN TRUMP.”

“He’s literally Lex Luthor,” posted Rep. Rober Garcia (D-Calif.).

“I can only imagine the political reporting from foreign embassies in Washington. We are literally, a global laughing stock,” reacted former US Ambassador Luis Moreno.

Other commenters quickly seized upon the “kryptonite” metaphor.

“Guess the Epstein list is your kryptonite, huh?” posted another user who earned more than 10k likes.

“SuperTrump, killer of Epstein's list, protector of pedos, clown extraordinaire, traitor of MAGA, oathbraker, puppet of Israel, grower of debt,” chimed another critic, who turned out to be one of many.

Commenters on X found easy pickings with the president’s purported lack of modesty.

“Ahhh the cringe,” said one user, following a trend that racked up countless uses of the word “cringe.”

“One minute, the WH will post something that makes me chuckle and feel warm inside, and then the next minute, they'll post absolute cringe that I'd expect to see on Facebook,” responded another.

“As a Trump voter, this is cringy as hell,” said another.

Debate master Dean Withers, of Jubilee fame, could find no eloquence in his own response: “delete this holy f--- this is cringe.”

The internet's many Superman fanboy X accounts railed the White House over the sleight.

“This movie — and the character, mind you — stands for everything you hate. it’s anti-oligarch, anti-war, anti-zionist and most DEFINITELY pro-immigrant and for the PEOPLE. Anti-fascism to its core. Something the White House does not understand,” yowled one accuser.
