Trump is already putting together an 'extremist far-right army of ultra-loyalists': Mehdi Hasan

An NBC News poll released on Sunday, November 19 found that in a hypothetical matchup, incumbent President Joe Biden trails 2024 GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump by 2 percent. Other recent polls have also shown a close race, with Trump having narrow leads over Biden.
MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan, on his November 19 show, warned that the 2024 presidential election shouldn't be viewed merely from the standpoint of a horserace, but as a referendum on whether or not democracy itself survives in the United States.
"According to a new NBC News poll out just this morning…. Donald Trump is now leading in a hypothetical general election matchup," Hasan explained. "Now, this isn't just bad news for President Biden; this is terrible news for the very future of American democracy."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
Hasan continued, "For weeks, we've been warning you, on this show, about the dangers of a second Trump term. The former president, after all, has promised retribution — pledged to round up protesters with the military and suggested using the Justice Department to go after his political enemies. These are plans that should terrify each and every single one of us."
Hasan went on to describe some of the loyalists who might be recruited under a second Trump term, including former Fox News host Tucker Carlson as vice president, Michael Flynn as national security adviser — a position he briefly held in 2017 — far-right lawyer Mike Davis as U.S. attorney general, anti-Islam activist Laura Loomer as White House press secretary, and Kash Patel as CIA director.
"With these kind of far-right figures waiting in the wings, ready to service in a possible second Trump Administration," Hasan warned, "it's really no surprise that The Economist Magazine, this week, dubbed Donald Trump, quote, 'the biggest danger to the world in 2024…. We cannot overlook what's taking shape before our very eyes: a second Trump term filled with an extremist far-right army of ultra-loyalists and total sycophants with little regard for the Constitution — which will be beyond anything we've ever seen in modern American history."
