Trump

In a large ad for the Sunday edition of the New York Times, Walmart heiress Christy Walton urged Americans to "mobilize" and take part in large protests on Saturday, June 14 — the day President Donald Trump is holding a military parade in Washington, DC.

Walton attacked the parade as wildly inappropriate, arguing that Trump is not a "king," but an elected official.

The ad read, "The honor, dignity, and integrity of our country are not for sale."

Far-right MAGA Republicans are furious over the ad, and some are calling for a boycott of Walmart.

In a June 9 post on X, formerly Twitter, Newsmax's David J. Harris Jr. wrote, "INSANE: Newspaper ad Paid for by Christy Walton. Walmart heiress."

Conspiracy theorist Kari Lake, who lost gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races in Arizona, tweeted, "Do you shop at Walmart?"

Walmart spokesman Joe Pennington, however, told Forbes that Walton is only speaking for herself — not for Walmart. According to Pennington, "The advertisement from Christy Walton (is) in no way connected to or endorsed by Walmart."

Calls for a MAGA boycott of Walmart are drawing a lot of responses on X.

Trump ally and self-described "proud Islamophobe" Laura Loomer tweeted, "I am glad Walmart took this opportunity to distance themselves from Christy Walton’s anti-Trump multi-city ad and to condemn political violence."

X user Uncle Korm posted, "She has nothing to do with current day Walmart. She's an heiress. That’s old Walmart money. Direct your indignation at Christy Walton, not at Walmart."

Another X user, Andy Clark, tweeted, "Ms. Lake, you are off base targeting WalMart on this. Christy Walton married into the Walton family. She inherited her WalMart stock upon the death of her husband. She has nothing to do with the day-to-day operations of the company. Do your research."

KrassenCast's Ed Krassenstein, mocking Lake, posted, "Cope. Cry Harder!"

X user Timothy Patrick posted, "What specifically…. does anyone disagree with? Do you want a king? Should we mistreat children and veterans? What did she say that was wrong?"

Patrick also pushed back against MAGA Republicans who are claiming, with zero evidence, that Walton is endorsing the militant Antifa movement.

Patrick wrote, "I'm guessing that no member of the Walton family is a part of antifa Trump is trying to act like a king. He's constantly trying to punish free speech, bypass due process, violating the posse Comitatus act, etc You’re free to disagree…. But my point is I see a lot of people upset about an ad when they agree with every single point made in the ad. But it’s not 'their team' so they’re outraged by points they agree with."
