During the annual National Association of Black Journalists Convention in Chicago Wednesday, former President Donald Trump clashed with the journalists grilling him on various policies and issues that matter to Black communities in America — and on the ways he's insulted Black reporters during White House news briefings in the past.

While complaining that US District Judge Aileen Cannon threw out his classified documents case earlier this month, Trump claimed, "I didn't notice ABC doing any publicity on it" — a jab to ABC News senior congressional correspondent Rachel Scott, who was asking the former president questions.

"I won the case. The biggest case. This is an attack on a political opponent," Trump added.

When Scott noted that she wanted to move on and asked the MAGA hopeful about his decision to select Senator JD Vance (R-OH) as his VP nominee, Trump said, "Well, you're the one who held me up for 35 minutes, just so you understand."

It's unclear if Scott was actually the cause of Trump's "hold up." Earlier on in the Q&A, HuffPost editor Phil Lewis reported via the social media app Bluesky that Trump took umbrage to the NABJ's plan to have Politifact conduct live fact-checking of the former president.

"I’m told that Trump is demanding that NABJ not do the live fact checking and that’s why the event hasn’t started yet. 'We’re in a standoff,'" Lewis reported.

Later on during the discussion, Fox News' Harris Faulkner — who was also on stage interviewing the ex-president — began to ask Trump a question, to which he replied, "I cannot understand your microphone. It's really hard. I can't understand, Harris, because of the distance and the mics are in lousy shape. I cannot understand."
