'The records never come': Analyst makes case for why Trump can’t be trusted
Longtime Democratic leader Leah Daughtry on Sunday morning hit Donald Trump over his consistent lack of transparency after Kamala Harris on Saturday criticized her opponent over his refusal to release his medical records.
As Harris makes campaign stops across swing states less than 30 days until Election Day, the vice president is using Trump's defiance on transparency as leverage to prove the ex-president is not fit for office.
"I think the question about competence is part of the reason that pushing for the release of medical records makes it actually about voters predicating their decision on this," MSNBC's The Weekend co-host Alicia Menendez noted, speaking to Daughtry, who chaired the Democratic National Committee in 2008. "Though it does underscore the lack of transparency in the administration around his health records, around his tax records, around who it is that Donald Trump is actually beholden to. So if you're making a decision about who you want in a time of crisis, that lack of transparency becomes a crisis on to itself."

"That's exactly right," the 2016 DNC chief executive officer replied. "He is making this about trust — we should be able to trust him, and that we shouldn't be able to trust Kamala Harris, and yet — the complete lack of transparency."
"Release the records," Daughtry continued. "You said you're going to release the records. He keeps telling us, but then the records never come. That extends from his health to his taxes to his finances, and he keeps telling us, 'Yes, I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it,' but then it never gets done. So if he can't be transparent about this basic thing — you had a physical, you said you're going to tell us what it said. Tell us what it said. If you can't do that, how do we trust you on the economy or on keeping America safe? how can we trust anything you say, if you can't handle this basic, small thing."
