Trump may tap self-described 'proud Islamophobe' Laura Loomer for his 2024 campaign: report

Far-right MAGA Republican and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer has generated one controversy after another, describing herself as "pro-white nationalist" and repeatedly expressing anti-Muslim views. Loomer identifies as a "proud Islamophobe," and Never Trump conservatives have often cited her as a prime example of everything they detest about the MAGA movement.
But former President Donald Trump, according to New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, wants to hire Loomer for his 2024 presidential campaign.
In an article published on April 7, Haberman and Swan report that Trump, according to four Times sources, "has told aides to hire" her.

"Mr. Trump met with Ms. Loomer recently and directed advisers to give her a role in support of his candidacy, two of the people familiar with the move said," the Times journalists report. "It is unclear whether she would serve on his campaign or the main super PAC backing his presidential bid. On Tuesday, after Mr. Trump's arraignment in Manhattan, Ms. Loomer attended the former president's speech at Mar-a-Lago, his resort and residence in Palm Beach, Fla."
But some Trump aides, according to Haberman and Swan, "are said to have concerns that such a hire will cause a backlash, given her history of inflammatory statements and her embrace of the Republican Party's fringes."
Loomer, interviewed by the Times, would not confirm that Trump is hiring her for his 2024 campaign. But she stresses that she considers herself an unwavering "Trump loyalist."
The conspiracy theorist told the Times, "The president knows I have always been a Trump loyalist, and that I'm committed to helping him win reelection in 2024. He likes me very much…. I know a lot of people don't like me, but that’s their problem, not mine. I have proven my loyalty to President Trump countless times over, and even if other people try to malign me and undermine President Trump's wishes, I will continue to be a ride-or-die Trump supporter."
