'Terrified of what to say': Newsmax host accuses Fox News of 'blacking out' Trump controversy

Reliable media proxies for President Donald Trump appear to be splintering over the Jeffrey Epstein debacle.
Mediaite reports Newsmax is scorching Fox News for going dark on its coverage of the fallout following the Justice Department’s dismissal of rumors that Epstein had a secret client list for blackmail and the conspiracy of whether Epstein truly died in prison of suicide.
“You may have noticed the Epstein story was almost nowhere to be found … on Fox News these last couple of days, after months of very consistent coverage,” said Newsmax host Rob Schmitt. “… It’s clear that the White House didn’t want this to be a subject, but Trump’s base, his supporters in [his] base, care about it.”

“And, so, there was a bit of a conflict there,” added Schmitt. “And a lot of TV hosts are terrified of what to say and how to say it, because they don’t want to lose their audience and they don’t want to [infuriate] the White House at the same time. So, it becomes a bit of a catch-22.”
While some leading generals in the MAGA movement are doing an abrupt about-face and endorsing Trump’s request to move on from Epstein, others are not so quick to surrender the bludgeon they have been using to beat Biden and Democrats for years. Schmitt implied the GOP establishment bankrolling Fox News appears to be pulling strings in favor of acceptance, however, and he cited Fox News host Laura Ingraham as example.
“[She is] on at the same time as me — thanks for watching my show — talked quite a bit about Epstein this weekend at the Turning Point event. And then last night on her show, basically went dark on the subject, mentioning it only with disdain for about two seconds,” Schmitt said.
“… And there was a little bit of it on Bret Baier’s show, ‘Special Report,’ otherwise it was completely blacked out of the network,” Schmitt said. “That came from somewhere, obviously. There’s a pressure point, and then it was hit.”
