Huffpost reports President Donald Trump was up late on Wednesday ranting at late-night nemesis Jimmy Kimmel.
“Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air?” Trump wrote on Truth Social at at nearly 1:00 a.m. “Why do the TV Syndicates put up with it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!”
Huffpost reports Trump’s message came after Kimmel hit Trump’s with a 10-minutes monologue on his “wealth, his family loyalty, and his connections to late convicted sex offender and close friend Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump promised during the 2024 campaign to release the Epstein files, but instead spent most of the year laboring to block it with the help of House Speaker Mike Johnson. When it became clear that Congress was going to pass a petition to circumvent Johnson and release the information anyway, he claimed he supported it ― even though he could have released the files on his own, at any time, without Congress. That bill passed with a landslide vote and is now headed for Trump’s desk.
“Now, usually when Trump gets a bill, he declares bankruptcy and doesn’t pay it,” Kimmel said. “This one, Trump signed.”
Kimmel added that “Trump hasn’t been this nervous about signing something since Don Jr.’s birth certificate.”
Kimmel heaped on further injury by pointing out that Trump’s former allies defied him on the petition and signed it, including Speaker Johnson.
“[T]his has also been a blow to Trump because some of his most loyal foot-lickers betrayed him,” Kimmel said.
Kimmel's monologue seemingly drove Trump to blast a response on Truth Social. Huffpost points out that this is the second time in a week Trump blasted a late night TV host, having also attacked “Late Night” host Seth Meyers over the weekend.
“Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!” Trump raged.
