On Monday morning, May 12, President Donald Trump held a press conference to announce his plan for lowering prescription drug prices.

Trump, during the presser, noted that drug prices are much lower in other developed countries — and vowed to change that. But media pundits are saying that the presser wasn't big on specifics.

Trump's promise to lower drug prices right away inspired MSNBC's Ana Cabrera to ask NBC News' Christine Romans, "Is that even possible?" And Romans responded that Trump wasn't clear on how he would do that.

The presser is also receiving a lot of responses on X, formerly Twitter — especially Trump's "fat shot drug" comments.

Journalist Aaron Rupar highlighted those comments from Trump, who told reporters, "A friend of mine who is a businessman. Very very very top guy. Most of you would've heard of him. Highly neurotic. Brilliant businessman. Seriously overweight. And he takes the fat shot drug."

X user Robert C. Evans asked, "Seriously folks, what the hell is he talking about? Fat shot drug? What is that, should we know this? Is someone actually writing this for him or is he just making things up? He sounds like a delusional mental patient, are we supposed to just ignore these incoherent ramblings?"

Axios' Marc Caputo humorously posted, "The Fat Shot Drug™️."

Democratic activist Anna Baxter wrote, "Fat shot drug? When Ozempic is less than $1000/script, then we'll buy his…. When will he learn you can’t govern by EO?"

X user Barbara Adams commented, "'The fat shot drug.' So classy."

Another X user, Mark Ward, wrote, "If he hadn't said brilliant businessman I would have been convinced he was talking about himself."

Right-wing pundit Monica Crowley posted, "President Trump just gave a shout-out to the 'fat shot drug.'"

Former Rep. Justin Amash, a libertarian, tweeted, "Trump supports economically foolish price controls for prescription drugs and pharmaceuticals and will sign an executive order to sidestep Congress and the Constitution…again."
