On Thursday, January 11, Justice Arthur Engoron is expected to hear closing arguments in the bench trial for New York Attorney General Letitia James' civil fraud trial against Donald Trump. The former president has been angrily railing against Engoron and James, and early that day, authorities in Nassau County, Long Island responded to a bomb threat against Engoron's house.

According to the New York Times' Jonah E. Bromwich, "A spokesman for the Nassau County Police Department confirmed that there was an investigation at the house of the judge, Arthur F. Engoron, who in several hours, is expected to hear closing arguments in Mr. Trump's case. Two people with knowledge of the matter said that the threat involved a bomb and that the bomb squad came to the house."

Meanwhile, Forbes' James Farrell reports, "The threat comes the morning after Trump alleged, on Truth Social, (that) Engoron and Attorney General Letitia James were 'working closely together to 'screw me' even though I have done nothing wrong,' calling the trial 'rigged and unfair.'"

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?

Bromwich notes that Trump, on January 11, "originally planned to speak in his own defense at closing arguments," but Engoron "said he would have to abide by rules that apply to lawyers giving closing arguments and refrain from delivering a 'campaign speech.'"
