Mary McCord, former principal deputy assistant AG for the Department of Justice, had choice words for the escalating spat between FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Infighting among President Donald Trump's U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) appointees is boiling over now that Bongino is threatening to resign in response to Bondi's handling of the alleged Jeffrey Epstein files. Earlier Friday Axios had reported Bongino took an early weekend after his argument at the White House with Bondi. Trump staff believed Bongino had already quit when he didn’t show up for work that morning.

Now Bongino allegedly wants Bondi removed.

“… Source tells me it’s very likely that Bongino resigns from the FBI unless Pam Blondi is FIRED by President Trump or resigns from the DOJ,” posted MAGA influencer Laura Loomer on X.

McCord, who was also a federal prosecutor for U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, had little respect for Bongino’s behavior.

“He's not a serious person,” McCord told the panel of MSNBC’s ‘The Weekend.’ “He came into this job with a serious mission. He has no relevant experience to be the FBI deputy director, and I think that's now showing.”

Bongino achieved MAGA fame as a Fox News commentator and host of the Dan Bongino Show podcast, where he spread conspiracy theories on election fraud and the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. He has also demanded accountability for Epstein’s crimes and questioned the facts surrounding Epstein’s purported suicide and his links to politicians and media figures.

Now as FBI deputy Director, Bongino has been tamping down MAGA expectations of his Epstein controversies, telling people there’s just nothing there. His clashes with Bondi over the handling of the report have only escalated this week as the MAGA universe fumes over the Trump administration’s non-answers after years of spreading conspiracy.

McCord appeared particularly dismissive of Bongino’s tantrum Saturday morning.

“There are certainly times, in my long tenure at the department of justice, when there are differences between leadership of the department of justice and leadership of the FBI. We have disagreed on various things, but you don't do this,” McCord said. “You don't go out in public and demand resignations. You don't. have public spats like this. You deal with those things like adults who are doing serious work, which is law enforcement and protecting national security in this country.”

McCord said the underlying problem fueling the passion is the “disappointment that there was no client list that exposed high level democrats pedophilia or whatever.”

“This is all a made up conspiracy anyway, so the very underlying nature of this is not serious and it's not serious to department of justice's mission,” McCord said. “… The reason this is so annoying to the MAGA base is all just such a sideshow. And then to have that boil over into this very public spat, I think it just shows us all how dangerous this crew leading the department of justice and the FBI is.”
