'Texting me this morning': CNN host says Trump staff are asking reporters who’s still employed

The Epstein files uproar has become so chaotic that Daily Beast reports White House aides are quietly texting CNN for answers.
Aides and White House employees don’t appear to be getting answers from their bosses or upper management on whether or not FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is still employed with the federal government after a public argument last week.
“[Officials] were texting each other and texting me this morning asking … whether or not they had figured out if he had shown up to work today because it was still an open question in Washington this morning if he was going to be back at the FBI today,” CNN host Kaitlan Collins told viewers Monday.

Bongino gave himself a three-day weekend after a raucous White House fight with U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi. His continued absence Monday morning led to rumors he had followed through on threats to quit over Bondi’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.
CNN reports Bongino eventually returned to the office, despite claims from MAGA influencer Laura Loomer that the deputy director had demanded Bondi be fired or he would quit. But Trump himself appeared unsure of Bongino’s employment on Sunday, and was unable to answer in the affirmative when questioned by reporters.
“Oh, I think so. I did — I spoke to him today. Dan Bongino, very good guy. I’ve known him a long time. I’ve done his show many, many times,” Trump said. “He sounded terrific, actually. No, I think he’s in good shape."
Collins said uncertainty still lingers among White House staff because of Bongino’s deteriorating relationship with other administration leaders.

“There are officials inside the White House who have not spoken to Dan Bongino in days,” Collins said, adding the president was “very angry” with Bongino after his White House spat with Bondi.
