Fox hosts slam Biden for dodging Trump debate — one points to ex-president’s repeated absence

Former President Donald Trump announced in August he planned to skip all three GOP debates ahead of the 2024 primary, and the MAGA hopeful kept his word.
Taking shots at his former opponents, the ex-president wrote via Truth Social, "New CBS POLL, just out, has me leading the field by 'legendary' numbers. TRUMP 62%, 46 Points above DeSanctimonious (who is crashing like an ailing bird!), Ramaswamy 7%, Pence 5%, Scott 3%, Haley 2%, Sloppy Chris Christie 2%, 'Aida' Hutchinson 1%. The public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had, with Energy Independence, Strong Borders & Military, Biggest EVER Tax & Regulation Cuts, No Inflation, Strongest Economy in History, & much more. I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!"
Despite four indictments and over 80 felony counts, Trump managed to secure the GOP nomination in February.

During the Thursday, April 4 segment of Fox News' Outnumbered, host Harris Faulkner revisited the former president's decision to forgo all debates.
According to Mediate, although Faulkner "argued that skipping the debate presented a particular political risk to Biden because of his perceived weakness, she also made note of Trump’s hypocrisy."
The other Outnumbered co-hosts all blasted "President Joe Biden for not yet committing to debating the former president this fall," the news outlet notes.
The Fox News host said, "Neither man really put themselves in the best place to argue this. Neither one of them debated going into the primary season and then at the front of the primary season no, Trump said no, Biden said no. Biden, I think, underestimated RFK Jr. He probably should have debated him."

The New York Times reported in August, "Trump's relationship with Fox — a long-running saga that has been both lucrative and, more recently, extremely costly for the network" was one factor that deterred him from attending the debates.
