Ex-RNC head rages against MAGA Republicans for suddenly changing tune over Trump’s friend Loomer

Former Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele on Friday slammed Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) over the conservative lawmaker’s anti-Laura Loomer post, asking “Where was Tillis when [Donald] Trump told the Proud Boys to ‘stand back and stand by?’”
Tillis on Friday responded to reports that Loomer, a far-right provocateur, is advising Trump as he makes yet another attempt at the Oval Office.
“Laura Loomer is a crazy conspiracy theorist who regularly utters disgusting garbage intended to divide Republicans,” Tillis wrote in a tweet. “A [Democratic National Committee] plant couldn't do a better job than she is doing to hurt President Trump's chances of winning re-election. Enough.”
Asked about Tillis’ comment, Steele rebuffed the MAGA congressman.

“Where was Tillis when Trump told the Proud Boys to stand back and stand by?” Steele asked. “Where was he when Donald Trump said there are fine people on both sides — and yes he did say it. And where were any of these folks as this cavalcade of crazy moved closer and closer around Trump? They were nowhere. Why? Because they didn't care. Why? They were making the mula. They were getting the votes. They weren't turning on them.”
“And so, they were useful tools by the useful idiots, who made as much as they could of it,” Steele continued. “The interesting thing that I find most compellingly amusing … is that [Rep.] Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) seems to be a little bit out of sorts about all of this. I wonder why that is. I wonder why cray cray is upset about even more cray cray. The reality of it is that this is all a part of this ongoing dance of: Who is going to be the housewife of Donald Trump?”
