WaPo columnist slams Republican lawmaker who will still vote for GOP candidate he called 'disturbing'

CNN's Jake Tapper on Tuesday showed a video clip of US Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) calling the recent allegations against North Carolina GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson "disturbing."
However, Tapper noted that while "off-camera," Budd said, 'I'm going to always vote for Republicans because we have the best platform.'"
CNN reported last week that the Donald Trump-backed GOP hopeful allegedly posted explicitly racist posts on a pornography website, calling himself a "Black Nazi."

"I've had conversations with him," Budd said of Robinson. "Again, they're very disturbing. It's up to him to prove it to North Carolina voters over the next 40 days."
Tapper asked Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank to share his thoughts on the matter.
"Shame is dead, Jake," Milbank replied. "I mean, we're seeing this over and over again."
He continued, "And on the one hand, it's funny. On the other hand, look at what's actually happening here. I've written about this House majority. Majority of them have voted to keep confederate names on military bases, to abolish the Education Department — they're on record supporting a nationwide ban count on abortion. [Republican leaders] from Speaker [Mike] Johnson (R-LA) on down supporting the racist Great Replacement Theory. It's all fun and games, unless Speaker Johnson is in power with Donald Trump. And suddenly all these poison pills that we talk about become actual possibilities of being law."
