Far-right Students for Trump co-founder facing aggravated assault charge

The Washington Post's Will Sommer on Wednesday posted a mugshot of Students for Trump co-founder Ryan Fournier, who has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon in North Carolina.
Prosecutors, according to Axios, allege that the 27-year-old Fournier assaulted a woman (allegedly his girlfriend) by "grabbing her right arm and striking her in the forehead" with a handgun.
Axios' Lucille Sherman reports, "His next hearing is scheduled for December 18. The victim suffered a minor injury, according to a police report."

Fournier has been involved in far-right MAGA movement since 2015, when he co-founded Students for Trump. He now heads Radical Alert, a MAGA group that says it "exposes" leftist activity on college campuses.
The assault case in North Carolina isn't the first time Fournier has had legal problems. On October 26, 2022, the Daily Beast's Roger Sollenberger reported that Fournier had pleaded guilty to driving while impaired.
John Lambert, another Students for Trump co-founder, was sentenced to 13 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud conspiracy.
