'Pretending not to know': Musician corners 'Yale-educated' Vance for 'playing dumb' on SCOTUS ruling

Vice President JD Vance found himself in yet another argument on the social platform X, this time with renowned musician Mikel Jollett, over the Supreme Court ruling that ordered the administration to bring back a Maryland man who was wrongfully deported to a prison in El Salvador.
"The entire American media and left wing industrial complex has decided the most important issue today is that the Trump admin deported an MS-13 gang member (and illegal alien)," Vance wrote on X on Tuesday, sharing a video from the Oval Office that showed the Trump team aggressively responding to CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins' question about the deported man, Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia.
In response to the vice president's post, Jollett wrote, "No, the most important issue is that the Supreme Court ruled by a 9-0 decision that you must return him."

"Trump is not a dictator or a king. He's a president and a president must follow the Supreme Court's ruling. If he does not, he must be removed from power. It's that simple," Jollett added.
Replying to Jollett, Vance said, "Are you proposing that we invade El Salvador to retrieve a gang member with no legal right to be in our country? Where in the Supreme Court’s decision does it require us to do that?"
Jollett pressed the vice president further, saying, "The ruling clearly states that you are required to take steps to facilitate his return and update the court on your progress. You have plenty of tools at your disposal to do this without invading El Salvador."

"You, of course, KNOW THIS because you are a Yale-educated lawyer. You're pretending NOT TO KNOW IT and playing dumb publicly. Our entire system rests on checks and balances and you just got checked by the Supreme Court in a 9-0 ruling," he added.
"Are you saying Trump is too weak to simply ask Bukele to return him?" the musician asked.
Some political commentators on X agreed with Jollett's view that the vice president is simply pretending not to know what the Court ruling says.
"Intentionally obtuse. JD Vance thinks you’re too stupid to understand the facts. - he’s not a gang member - they’ve been ordered to facilitate his return - Bukele has already returned a dozen migrants - all they have to do is ask for him to be released and put him on a plane," wrote Democratic strategist Sawyer Hackett.
