A caustic civil war between prominent figures in the MAGA movement has escalated to the point that Donald Trump himself is being asked to intervene, according to The Daily Beast.
Laura Loomer is a major MAGA commentator noted for her close friendship with Trump and ability to influence his decision making. Dubbing her a member of the "MAGA mean girls," The Hill's Myra Adams said that her job "is to unearth disloyalty and report to Trump," more often than not resulting in people being fired or ostracized from the movement.
In recent months, she has been engaged in what some outlets have dubbed an "explosive MAGA civil war" with Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host who remains an influential voice among the far-right. Carlson has broken from his peers within the MAGA movement for his opposition to Israel, with The Daily Beast noting that he urged Trump last year to block the country from attacking Iran. This stance has drawn the ire of some of his far-right peers, including the likes of Levin and Ben Shapiro, and most notably, Loomer.
In a post to social media on Monday, Loomer urged Trump to "condemn" Carlson, and also urged her followers to increase the heat on the president with their own demands.
"Everybody needs to be pressuring the White House to issue a statement condemning Tucker Carlson this week," Loomer wrote. "His efforts to derail the GOP and his nonstop sabotage of President Trump must end."
This post came in the wake of a contentious interview Carlson released on Friday with Mike Huckabee, Trump's ambassador to Israel, which, he stated in a post to X, dug into "the truth about America’s deeply unhealthy relationship with Israel." During the interview, Carlson cast doubt on the claim that Israel had a biblically ordained right to the land it occupies. Loomer has accused Carlson of being motivated to criticize Israel due to his connections to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Loomer also appeared upset at Carlson's visit to the White House earlier on Monday. It is unclear why he was making the visit, though The Daily Beast noted that his son, Buckely Carlson, currently works as a deputy press secretary for Vice President J.D. Vance.
"He thinks he can just walk into the White House like he owns the place because his son works there," Loomer's post continued. "Everyone with moral clarity needs to pressure the White House to end this insanity once and for all. President Trump must condemn Tucker Carlson. Enough is enough.”
