Terry Moran, the ABC News reporter who was fired last week for a social media post calling White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller a “world class hater,” has said he has no regrets about his remarks.

In an interview with the New York Times published Monday, Moran said, “It wasn’t a drunk tweet,” referring to his post on the social platform X.

Moran was fired by the news organization last week over a post highly critical of the Trump administration, especially Miller.

“I was thinking about our country, and what’s happening, and just turning it over in my mind,” he said.

Moran continued: “I wrote it, and I said, ‘That’s true.’”

The post referred to Miller as “richly endowed with the capacity for hatred,” and added that the White House official “eats his hate” as “spiritual nourishment.”

He also referred to Trump and Miller as “world-class hater[s].”

The journalist said he believed it was the truth, adding, “I don’t think you should ever regret telling the truth.”

Last Tuesday, ABC News announced that Moran’s contract had been set to expire, adding that “based on his recent post,” it would not be renewed.

But according to Moran, the organization had earlier agreed to renew him for another three years.

“We had a deal,” he told the Times.
