Senate GOP leaders, according to a Monday report by Axios, "are privately" promising party donors Republicans will gain the majority next year, which the news outlet notes is Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's goal.

More specifically, Axios reports, the Republican leaders are convinced the party will win Montana and Ohio, which are two of the soon-to-be-retired Senate leader's "last big goals."

However, in order to "expand a 2025 majority past 52 seats, Republicans will need more money — and a good showing from former President Trump," the news outlet notes, adding that battleground states — Georgia and North Carolina — have competitive Senate races.

Axios also notes, "With Vice President Kamala Harris crushing Trump in the fundraising game, Senate Republicans have been warning for weeks about the Democratic Party's fundraising advantage."

Furthermore, National Republican Senatorial Committee Executive Director Jason Thielman "sounded the alarm on major funding gaps for the GOP in Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada," Axios reports.

He emphasized that it will be a challenge for Republicans to win "without fresh cash."

Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee communications director David Bernstein told the news outlet, "Senate Democrats are strongly positioned to defend our majority because the most important factors in every single Senate race are in Democrats' favor: we have the better candidates, the more effective message and the stronger campaigns."
