During a Wednesday, January 24 conversation with CNN's Anderson Cooper, ex-South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson slammed Donald Trump over remarks he made towards the state's former Governor Nikki Haley following his New Hampshire primary win.

"I know you're bothered by comments that the former president made about Ambassador Haley last night," Cooper said. "Criticizing her dress, of all things, implying she would be under investigation if she were to win. Do you think those remarks rally people in South Carolina to her?"

Dawson replied, Yes. And I thought those were cheap shots. Inappropriate. And he enjoyed humiliating Senator [Tim] Scott (R-SC). He enjoys humiliating Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC). He enjoys this to make himself look bigger, stronger, and better, along with that bleached hair and that orange skin. We're gonna do the same thing back. We're gonna critique him as he comes to South Carolina. This is going to be a contest. And Anderson, you've been here before. We're gonna test his metal, and we're gonna see exactly how it is. He has not won South Carolina yet."
