Only two days after former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Western Pennsylvania, the 2024 Republican National Convention got underway in Milwaukee on Monday, July 15. Trump officially received his party's nomination, and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) was announced as his running mate.

Far-right Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) was among the speakers and vigorously attacked President Joe Biden on stage.

But now, the far-right GOP senator is saying that he read the wrong speech.

"Today's Democrat agenda, their policies, are a clear and present danger to America, to our institutions, our values and our people," Johnson told the Milwaukee crowd.

However, Johnson later told PBS that the teleprompter had loaded a previous version of the speech that he had decided not to use.

Johnson told PBS, "That speech was written last week. They literally loaded the wrong speech. I had taken that out. …. We should heed President Trump's call to unite."

The senator added, "We must heal and unify this nation. I didn't know how to take that out without screwing up the teleprompter."
