These 5 influential men 'recognize the danger Trump Poses' — But lack the 'courage' to endorse Harris

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) hasn't been shy about criticizing former President Donald Trump, who he believes is painfully "unfit for office." And he has made it clear that he won't be voting for him in November.
Yet the 2012 GOP presidential nominee and former Massachusetts governor has not endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris either in this year's presidential race.
Romney is among the five influential figures The New Republic's Timothy Noah calls out in a listicle published on October 25. These men, Noah laments, are "astute enough to recognize the danger Trump poses" but lack the "courage" to endorse Harris.

"If Trump wins," Noah argues, "it will be an exaggeration to say they caused it. But history will record that at a moment in their lives — in most cases, the only moment in their lives — when circumstances required them to show courage, they failed the test. Indeed, that silence may be the only thing succeeding generations will know about them."
The other four Noah cites in his listicle are JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett, Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong, and former White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly.
During a recent interview with the New York Times, Kelly — a retired U.S. Marines Corps general — revealed that when Trump was president, he praised Adolf Hitler, embraced "fascist" ideology, and complained that U.S. military leaders weren't more like Hitler's generals in Nazi Germany.
"Just about all the worst stuff I know about Trump I've learned from Kelly," Noah explains. "Yet the man won't endorse Harris, who is not a fascist, does not admire Hitler, and does not mock people who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country…. If Trump is a fascist, then the only patriotic thing for this ex-general to do is endorse Harris."
