'Testosterone-laden grievance machine': Analyst lays out 'split-screen' between RNC and DNC

Night one of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago Monday included appearances from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President Joe Biden, and even a surprise speech from 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris — each met with resounding, minutes-long applause.
Speaking with MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace Tuesday, ahead of night two of the convention, political analyst and former Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) laid out the stark differences between the Democratic National Convention, and the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee last month.
"Look at the split-screen between the Republican convention and this one so far," the ex-lawmaker said. "The Republican convection was a testosterone laden grievance machine. Trump coming out to the song 'Men Rule the World,' and Hulk Hogan ripping off his shirt. It was just ridiculous. It was like women don't have the right to vote."

McCaskill continued, "And then you look at last night, starting with the tribute to Jesse Jackson, followed by the really moving testimonies of women who had faced health crises because of Roe being overturned, and Trump's abortion ban — to [US Rep.] AOC (D-NY), to [UAW President] Sean Fain — who raised the rafters for unions in this country. And then, obviously, to Hillary Clinton, who was magnificent last night."
The former senator emphasized that the diverse array of speeches prove the party's commitment to reaching "every corner" of the United States.
"Trump's party doesn't want to do that," McCaskill emphasized. "I don't know exactly who they're going for. They're certainly are not paying attention to women's vote. I don't think they're doing the very good job with the union vote when he's advocating firing people who are threatening to strike with Elon Musk."
The MSNBC analyst also gave a nod to Harris' tan suit, which many speculate was a tribute to the tan suit former President Barack Obama's wore during an August 2014 press conference. Former US Rep. Peter King (R-NY) called the suit "unpresidential."
