RNC official allegedly moved at least $1.32 million from a nonprofit to her own law firm: report

Viewers who watch Fox News frequently have likely come across Harmeet Dhillon, a San Francisco-based attorney who is also a committeeperson for the Republican National Committee (RNC). Dhillon, who has been hoping to unseat Ronna Romney McDaniel as RNC chair, has represented many well-known people on the right — including Fox News and its former host Tucker Carlson in a lawsuit by former Fox producer Abby Grossberg.
Dhillon heads her firm, the Dhillon Law Group, as well as the right-wing nonprofit the Center for American Liberty (CAL). According to The Guardian's Jason Wilson, that publication "has found that at least $1.32m has been transferred from the CAL to" Dhillon's law firm "in a move one charity expert described as 'problematic.'"
Joan Harrington of the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at California's Santa Clara University told The Guardian, "Transparency protects donors, and this is not a transparent situation…. It looks like Dhillon Law and the nonprofit are overlapping to the extent that it's hard to tell the difference."
