The Crown Heights, Brooklyn home of New York Mayor Eric Adams' chief fund-raiser was searched by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Thursday "as part of a broad public corruption investigation, The New York Times reports.

According to NBC New York, the search at Brianna Suggs' residence took place "as Adams abruptly ended his trip to Washington, D.C. Thursday morning, when he was scheduled to meet" with President Joe Biden administration officials "regarding the ongoing migrant crisis."

The mayor quickly traveled back to New York "to deal with the matter," the Times notes.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?

Per the Times, "The warrant sought evidence of the theft of federal funds and conspiracy to steal federal funds, wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy, as well as campaign contributions by foreign nationals and conspiracy to make such contributions. Investigators were particularly interested in whether the campaign kicked back benefits to the construction company’s officials and employees and to Turkish officials."

The report calls Suggs "an essential cog in Mr. Adams's fund-raising machine, which has already raised more than $2.5 million for his 2025 re-election campaign."

Over the last two years, the Times reports Suggs has been paid "nearly $100,000 for fund-raising and campaign consulting services via her company, Suggs Solutions, according to city records."
