Nikki Haley calls out Trump’s 'little temper tantrums' ahead of New Hampshire primary

Conservative supporters of former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley's presidential campaign, including billionaire Charles Koch and New Hampshire Republican Gov. Chris Sununu, see her as the GOP's best alternative to primary frontrunner Donald Trump. And Trump, ahead of the New Hampshire primary, is trying to slow down her momentum in that state.
Trump's latest line of attack against "High-Tax Haley" is accusing her of promoting gas taxes in South Carolina. Haley, according to Politico's Lisa Kashinsky, is pushing back.
"With polls showing Haley gaining on Trump in New Hampshire," Kashinsky explains in a report published on January 3, "the former UN ambassador is ratcheting up her attacks on her one-time boss…. Haley has spent most of her campaign walking a fine line when it comes to Trump, alternating between opposing and praising him as she aims to appeal to both 'Never Trump' Republicans and those who are open to the idea of voting for him again. But with her latest broadsides against Trump, Haley is opening a new front in a primary long defined by lower-polling rivals' reluctance to engage directly with the former president."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
In 2023, many Never Trumpers criticized Haley for not being more aggressive in her attacks on Trump, arguing that former New Jersey governor Chris Christie was the only GOP presidential candidate who was really going after the frontrunner with a vengeance.
But with Trump slamming Haley on gas taxes, Kashinsky reports, she is trying to convince New Hampshire voters that his claims are false.
At a campaign event in Londonderry, New Hampshire, Haley told the crowd, "I have seen the commercials you see. I've seen the little temper tantrums that he's thrown. And let me tell you this: There's not one bit of it that's truthful. I never once signed or would have signed a tax increase in South Carolina."
