'He’s gotten so much done': Trump’s faithful supporters 'totally believe he loves America'

President Donald Trump recently called on Americans to "be patient," even as reports indicated that the United States' economy shrank in the year's first quarter. As critics denounce his economic policies after the first 100 days of his administration, some of the president's supporters are refusing to give up on him.
In a poll conducted by NPR-PBS-Marist College, released on Tuesday, 60 percent of respondents attributed the current economic conditions primarily to Trump’s policies. Only 39 percent felt he simply "inherited" the circumstances. This means that Americans are increasingly associating the current economic situation with Trump.
But Guardian reported Friday that the "most faithful supporters" of the president use words such as “amazing”, “fantastic” and “ecstatic” to describe his presidency.

"The Trump base, that amorphous group that has long intrigued pollsters, remains rock solid in its support for the 78-year-old and quite ingenious in finding new ways to eulogise his leadership," the Guardian report noted.
The publication interviewed 10 Trump fans at a rally in Warren, Michigan, on Tuesday. The results were different from the recent polls that say his approval ratings are dropping.
"Seen through the lens of Maga [Make America Great Again], Trump is steering the economy to a new golden age, making streets safer by expelling illegal immigrants and protecting rather than undermining democracy. Short-term pain, his supporters insist, is a price worth paying for long-term gain," the Guardian report noted.
60-year-old Dave Bono was quoted as saying by the Guardian: “The first 100 days have been fantastic. He’s gotten so much done in that amount of time, more than any other president for sure... I think he’s spot on.”

53-year-old Matt Ball, a commercial driver, said: "What I’ve seen the first hundred days is what I voted for.”
“It can’t be any worse than the chaos we lived through with Joe Biden for four years so I’m willing to take a chance," he added.
Suzanne Jennings, 65, said: “People just need to have a bit of patience. Our country was ruined over the past four years. I totally believe he loves America. He loves us and he’s doing it.”
