President Donald Trump drew derision on social media this week when he again broadcast his obsession with landing a Nobel Peace Prize.

Among the many topics Trump touched on at a Tuesday gathering of U.S. military brass was his claim that it would be a “big insult” to the United States if he was not awarded the prize. Staten Island Live reports Trump insists he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize because of his claim that he will have solved “eight” wars since the start of his second term.

“'Will you get the Nobel Prize?’ Absolutely not,” Trump said. “They’ll give it to some guy that didn’t do a damn thing. They’ll give it to a guy that wrote a book about the mind of Donald Trump and what it took to solve the wars. The Nobel Prize will go to a writer, but we’ll see what happens. It would be a big insult to our country.”

“I will tell you that I don’t want it,” Trump insisted to the group of top military commanders. “I want the country to get it. We should get it, because there’s never been anything like it.”

He then added that “I think it will” happen.

“I don’t say that lightly because I know more about deals than anybody. That’s what my whole life is based on,” said Trump, who failed to reach a deal with Democrats this week to keep his federal government funded.

“Trump has repeatedly claimed that he deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for dealing with international conflicts since the start of his second term,” Staten Island Live reports.

Critics on social media rolled Trump for re-engaging his old obsession.

“‘I don't want it’ says the guy who literally begs everyone he deals with to nominate him,” posted one critic on X.

“Why is he always whining? Trump is an embarrassment,” commented another.

“Get. The. Hook.” said another critic, referencing the infamous tool for pulling a bad act off a stage.

“He’s an emotional vampire. When faced with a crowd that doesn’t react, he starts to fade away,” said one, while another begged Nobel Prize international committees to “Please stop handing out the Nobel Prize until this fool is gone.”

Still another heckler called out Trump for padding his military resume before actual members of the military.

“Captain Bone Spurs bragging about his imaginary conquests to people who actually understand honor, valor, and self-sacrifice,” the commenter said, referencing Trump’s five military deferments.
