When Reps. Ro Khanna (D-California) and Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) featured survivors of billionaire financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, September 3, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) expressed her solidarity with the survivors — but went on to defend President Donald Trump after he attacked the event as a "Democrat hoax."

In a September 2 post on X, formerly Twitter, Mace tweeted, "Since it's already being reported - Yes I left the Oversight briefing with Epstein victims early. As a recent survivor (not 2 years in), I had a very difficult time listening to their stories. Full blown panic attack. Sweating. Hyperventilating. Shaking. I can’t breathe. I feel the immense pain of how hard all victims are fighting for themselves because we know absolutely no one will fight for us. GOD BLESS ALL SURVIVORS."

But Mace went from praising the Epstein survivors to defending Trump defending his "hoax" comment.

In a September 3 tweet, Mace posted, "President Trump is the one who banned Jeffrey Epstein from Mar-a-Lago. President Trump is the one who cooperated with the feds to get this guy. President Trump is the one who is COMMITTED to protecting women and kids."

The Daily Beast's Amber Levis notes, "Despite coming to Trump's defense, Mace was among the congresspeople to sign Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie's discharge petition to force the release of fresh Epstein files. Trump, known to have been a longtime friend of Epstein, is facing backlash from all sides for objecting to the release of the Epstein files. Meanwhile, revelations about Trump's relationship with Epstein continue to pile up."

Mace's vigorous defense of Trump following his "Democrat hoax" comment is generating a lot of discussion on X, and some users are accusing her of flip-flopping.

Journalist Lesley Abravanel tweeted, "Performative, Pathological, Pathetic and Psychotic Nancy Mace Turns Back on Epstein Survivors to Defend Trump."

Brian Allen, founder of Allen Analysis Media Group, said of Mace, "This is the same congresswoman who once claimed 'there is no Epstein list' and pushed for cushy prison deals. Now the receipts are in her face. The survivors are speaking. And it's rattling the protectors."

Allen also posted, "Let's be clear: this isn't about her tears. It's about the administration she defends — the one that's actively suppressing the Epstein files, restricting access to key audio/video evidence, and protecting elites. That’s where the focus should be."

Author David Marlow, a Democrat, commented, "Hypocrite Nancy Mace is a total disgrace!"

X user, Barbara Groves, posted, "Her job is more important than her integrity."
