These Republicans are 'getting secret overtures' from 'desperate' donors as establishment GOP flees Trump

As Donald Trump cements his lead in the Republican primary, the party’s top donors are looking to fulfill a “long-shot dream” of replacing the former president with another GOP candidate, Axios reports.
Per Axios:
“People are desperate. They are concerned with what could happen if Trump wins the primaries and they want a viable alternative," one Republican source said.
According to the report, Govs. Brian Kemp (R-GA) and Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) “are getting secret overtures from establishment Republicans.” Youngkin, for is part, is waiting to make a call on 2020 after what “he hopes will be big GOP wins in November's legislative races in Virginia.”
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
Billionaires Ronald Lauder and Thomas Peterffy are among the donors who could back Youngkin if he gets in the race. Peterffy has already “given $2 million to Youngkin's Spirit of Virginia PAC” despite previously supporting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ presidential bid. The Daily Mail on Monday reported that Fox News media mogul Rupert Murdoch has met with Youngkin “twice to personally encourage him to start a White House run.”
Axios reports that Kemp “is eyeing a U.S. Senate seat,” and is unlikely to enter the Republican presidential primary.
