No Labels should stay out of the 2024 election: conservative

The No Labels movement is quick to point out that according to polling data, millions of Americans are fed up with the two-party system and would welcome a major alternative to Republicans and Democrats. But critics of No Labels, including Never Trump conservatives like The Lincoln Party's Rick Wilson, often respond that if No Labels acts as a spoiler in 2024 and Donald Trump returns to the White House in January 2025, there won't be a U.S. democracy for No Labels to compete in.
Conservative strategist Sarah Longwell, like Wilson, is a Never Trumper who is supporting President Joe Biden in the 2024 election. In an article published by The Bulwark on November 13, Longwell argues that for the sake of U.S. democracy itself, No Labels should stay out of the 2024 race.
"If anyone were the target audience for No Labels' $70 million gambit to recruit and run a 'unity' third-party ticket with a moderate Republican — possibly former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan — and moderate Democrat, likely [Sen. Joe] Manchin, it would be me, a proud Never Trump Republican and moderate squish," Longwell writes. "But after conducting hundreds of focus groups with voters across the political spectrum, it's clear to me that a unity ticket in 2024 isn't just fantastical, it's dangerous. A centrist unity ticket appeals to exactly one demographic: swing voters who will decide the outcome of the 2024 election."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
Longwell goes on to emphasize that a likely Biden/Trump rematch would be a close election, and No Labels — according to focus groups she has conducted — could easily swing the election to Trump by acting as a spoiler.
The conservative strategist argues, "Giving the American people more choice in the short term isn't worth putting Trump back in power and degrading American democracy in the long term…. We have enough information right now to make the call: No Labels should pull the plug."
