'Absolutely bonkers': Trump supporters brutally mocked for latest 'solidarity' expression

Only two days after surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in Western Pennsylvania, Donald Trump appeared on stage with his right ear bandaged during the opening day of the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

The BBC reports that some of Trump's supporters at the event have been wearing mock ear bandages "as a sign of solidarity with the former president," including members of an Arizona delegation.

"One supporter said she had bandaged her own ear to help Mr. Trump 'set a new fashion statement' and to let him know 'how much we love him," according to the BBC.

The bandages have been receiving a lot of commentary on X, formerly Twitter.

Photographer/activist Misan Harriman said of the fake bandages, "Ok folks, this is absolutely bonkers, like really really beyond a joke. WTH is going on? We live in a simulation… How is this normal behaviour?"

Democratic consultant Holly Figueroa O'Reilly tweeted, "Tomorrow, every idiot at the convention is going to start wearing bandages on their ears. Next week, they'll be .99 on Temu."

Joe Biden supporter Nancy Bowman tweeted that after the July 13 shooting, Trump wore the ear bandage during the convention but not when he was golfing.

Politico's Olivia Beavers noted how plentiful the fake bandages were during the convention, tweeting, "Ear bandages are spreading on the convention floor in a sign of solidarity with Trump."

Democrat Jim Gray sarcastically posted, "By this time tomorrow night, if a delegate doesn't have their bandage on, they are kicked out of the convention and their credentials confiscated."
