Watch: Joe Scarborough urges MAGA Republicans to 'move to Russia' if they 'love Putin so much'

During a Tuesday night, February 20 town hall event hosted by Fox News' Laura Ingraham, former President Donald Trump discussed his legal problems and the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Trump told Ingraham, "Navalny is a very sad situation. He was a very brave guy…. It's a horrible thing, but it's happening in our country too. We are turning into a communist country."

The former president described himself as a victim of political persecution and compared himself to Navalny — a claim that MSNBC's Joe Scarborough vehemently pushed back against in a blistering commentary the following day.

During a February 21 broadcast on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Scarborough told co-cost Mika Brzezinski, "If there is a form of sort of Putinism here in America…. He didn't bring up Vladimir Putin…. But I think the most unamerican thing that has happened to Donald Trump through the decades is: He always gets away with it…. And we don't know, maybe he's going to get away with it again."

The Never Trump conservative and former GOP congressman slammed Trump's MAGA defenders as "bankrupt intellectually" and "bankrupt spiritually," arguing that it's ridiculous for Trump to compare himself to Navalny — especially in light of his frequent praise of Putin.

Scarborough also attacked former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who recently visited Moscow and conducted a fawning interview with Putin.

"If Donald Trump loves Russia so much," Scarborough told Brzezinski, "he should move there. If he moved there, he'd hate it. Tucker Carlson, why don't you move there? If you love Russia — if it's so great, if it's a land of paradise — I mean, these are the lies. This is the BS we used to hear from Soviet leaders coming to the United States and talking on '(The) Larry King) Show.'"
