100+ GOP ex-national security officials endorse Harris: Trump 'betrayed our values'

Like Joe Biden four years ago, 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is being supported by a wide range of political voices.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York), both of whom identify as "democratic socialists," have endorsed Harris. But the vice president has also been endorsed by quite a few prominent figures on the right, including former Vice President Dick Cheney, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming), retired Judge J. Michael Luttig, former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois), and former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
The fact that outspoken Never Trump conservatives such as attorney George Conway, MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Nicolle Wallace, former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele and The Bulwark's Tim Miller (a former GOP strategist) are supporting Harris isn't surprising — all of them supported Biden in 2020. But in 2024, Harris is picking up support from some Republicans who supported Trump's 2020 campaign, including former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham and former Mike Pence aide Olivia Troye.

Now, according to the New York Times' Peter Baker, more than 100 ex-national security officials who served in GOP presidential administrations have written a letter endorsing Harris over GOP nominee Donald Trump.
In the letter, they say that although that they might "disagree with Kamala Harris" on various issues, Trump has showed "dangerous qualities" — including an "unusual affinity" for authoritarian figures like Russian President Vladimir Putin — and is "unfit to serve." The letter also mentioned the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol Building.
The conservatives who signed the letter include Kinzinger, former Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Virginia) and former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska). Despite being a Republican, Hagel served as defense secretary under Democratic former President Barack Obama.
The letter reads, "As president, (Trump) promoted daily chaos in government, praised our enemies and undermined our allies, politicized the military and disparaged our veterans, prioritized his personal interest above American interests and betrayed our values, democracy and this country’s founding documents."
