'I know what it’s like': Michael Cohen insists Republicans backing Trump are 'in the cult'

Former President Donald Trump's ex-advisor and "fixer," Michael Cohen, insisted during a Sunday interview, many Republican leaders are standing by the former president despite his indictment because they are a part of a cult, The Hill reports.
Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on March 31 for distributing hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels, and is expected to face arrest Tuesday, April 4.
Per The Hill, Cohen told CBS News' Robert Costa, "This is his worst fear: being mug-shotted, fingerprinted, being referred to as a felon," noting his former advisee is "petrified."

New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman recently suggested the courtroom should mount cameras during the former president's trial to prevent him from lying to his supporters about the outcome.
"See, that's the problem," Cohen said. "Donald Trump doesn't tell the truth, ever. Ever. Everything that he says is either a mis-exaggeration, misinformation, disinformation, malinformation, or just a blatant lie. And that information is all done in order to benefit one person, and one person only, and that's him."
Costa asked the 2024 hopeful's former advisor, "Why do you think Republicans, at least many of them, keep staying with Trump?"
Cohen replied, "They're in the cult. And I know what it's like to be in the cult. It's time to wash your eyes and to see exactly who Donald Trump is. It's time to start to listen to the truth."
