'Silly stuff': Seth Meyers slams Trump’s use of 'frivolous' diversions to 'rip you off'

Far-right MAGA Republican Steve Bannon, host of the "War Room" podcast and former White House chief strategist in the first Trump Administration, famously described the MAGA game plan as "flood the zone with s---." Bannon's point was that MAGA Republicans can use a flood of nonsense to overwhelm, distract and wear out their political opponents.
Comedian and "Saturday Night Live" alumni Seth Meyers, on his show "Late Night With Seth Meyers," argued that President Donald Trump and his close ally Elon Musk are using distractions to make Americans forget that they're "trying to rip you off."
During his monologue, Meyers stressed that when U.S. voters are "easily distracted by silly stuff," they are more likely forget about things like grocery prices."

Meyers cited Trump's obsession with renaming the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America and the hype over Trump becoming president of the Kennedy Center as examples of "frivolous" distractions.
"Every time Trump speaks," Meyers told viewers, "I feel like a guy who started Season 2 of 'Severance' without watching Season 1."
Meanwhile, on a different late-night show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the host also noted the distraction tactics Trump is using during his second presidency. And those distractions, Kimmel can make voters forget about inflation or Trump's flawed foreign policy.
"Somehow, regular eggs have become more valuable than Faberge," Kimmel joked. And he went on to criticize Trump's handling of the Ukraine-Russia War.

Kimmel told viewers, "Ukraine is royally forked in this game. You know, there's a famous quote from Teddy Roosevelt: He said a president should speak softly and carry a big stick. Trump's walking around with a bullhorn and a putter."
