Push Notification

A heated exchange erupted during a House Oversight Committee hearing Thursday when Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) pushed to subpoena Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem in connection with the violent arrest of Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) for interrupting Noem’s press conference earlier in the day.

The clash began when Frost pressed Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) to take action.
As Frost attempted to make his case, Comer snapped, “Shut up! Just shut up,” repeatedly talking over the Florida congressman.

“No, you’re not gonna tell me to shut up, Frost said.

Amid the verbal chaos, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) joined in with a pointed accusation.

“Can’t follow the rules, can’t follow the law,” Greene said, claiming that Frost was affiliated with Antifa and was arrested for it.
Frost asked the words be taken down, following which Greene requested to amend her statement for the record, shifting from her initial claim.

“Congressman Frost was arrested at a voting rights rally,” she clarified.

“Proudly,” Frost shot back.

Taking to the social platform X Friday, Frost shared a clip of the exchange, saying: “Marjorie Taylor Greene FORCED to tell the truth in committee.”

The exchange took place as Republicans resist Democratic efforts to scrutinize Noem’s role in Padilla’s arrest.

Meanwhile, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) defended their states’ sanctuary policies before the House Oversight Committee.

Republicans on the panel linked those policies to rising crime tied to undocumented immigrants, while Democrats argued the protections are more critical than ever.
