Wife of MAGA gov candidate in NC was sued for stiffing Girl Scouts out of $3K in cookies

In North Carolina, opponents of GOP gubernatorial nominee Mark Robinson have been slamming the far-right MAGA conspiracy theorist for everything from Holocaust denial to saying that women should not have been given the right to vote in the United States. And polls released in late August have given North Carolina Democrats reason for optimism: Attorney General Josh Stein led Robinson by 6 percent in polls from East Carolina University and Emerson College/The Hill, while Redfield & Wilton Strategies found Stein ahead by 4 percent.
Negative headlines surrounding Robinson have continued in September.
Robinson, like other Christian nationalists, is vehemently opposed to adult entertainment — yet the Daily Beast reported that according to former employees of adult video stores in Greensboro, he consumed porn in huge quantities. And NJ Advance Media reports that Robinson's wife, Yolanda Hill Robinson, "tried to stiff the Girl Scouts out of $3000 worth of cookies."
NJ Advance Media's Kevin Manahan reports, "As part of his campaign, Robinson — who has been called MAGA's Great Black Hope — has crusaded to remove what he considers pornography — references to the LGBTQ community — from school and public libraries because, he says, it grooms and indoctrinates youngsters. Robinson, the current lt. governor, also has said that 'some folks need killing,' particularly liberals."
Manahan continues, "In most polls…. Josh Stein leads by 6-10 points, and GOP analysts are concerned that Robinson's poor showing could put the state in play for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. And now, the polling could get even worse for Robinson."
The reporter notes that in September 2003, the Girl Scouts filed a lawsuit against Yolanda Hill Robinson for, they said, writing a bad check for $2956.03. The courts agreed with the Girl Scouts, and when fees and damages were added, the total came out to $3486.03.
"At a campaign stop on Tuesday, (September 3)," Manahan notes, "Robinson refused to answer questions about either scandal. And his campaign has denied the porn shop allegations."
