Commentator and Bulwark writer Tim Miller said the "manosphere" is careening away from President Donald Trump after largely supporting him in the run up to the 2024 election.

Miller said Trump’s brash attitude plays well with young men in “decadent and easy times,” but his bad economic policy in the last few weeks is now bringing the pain.

“If things are going fine for you, it's easy to say, ‘well, I want the guy … who's more of a player and I want the guy who's cool and lets me say the R-word or whatever, but that starts to change real quick when you're also the type of guy who … if you're in your 20s or 30s, are day trading or are involved in the market … and you're seeing the insanity of the last three months,” Miller told NBC News senior political analyst Nicolle Wallace. “It might be a wake-up call to you that maybe … the ability to say cuss words is not as important as that.”

Wallace reported polling suggesting Trump has lost not just young people, but young men, with 47% of young men believing Trump will hurt the economy, down from 62% for the same group. In addition to disagreeing with Trump’s attempt to eliminate due process, the president’s overall job approval with young men also plummeted to only 34% approval. Additionally, polls showed 40% of young men say they're ‘worse off under Donald Trump.’

“… [I]f you're graduating from college, it's looking like this is going to be a horrible summer to find a job, and I feel really terrible for young people, men and women, who are looking to find a job this summer because of this self-inflicted recession and all this uncertainty,” said Miller. “If you're a company, are you going to be hiring this summer?”

Miller marveled that members of the manosphere did not smell the truth of Trump in the days preceding the election, considering the wealth of information surrounding the man.

“Real life is intruding for a lot of these folks, and, you know, you wish you would have heard it earlier,” said Miller. “… [T]hey're going to now consider Trump like the cheating girlfriend, … but, well, he's been cheating on you since the 80s, so why did you just realize it this week? It's unfortunate they've just realized it this week, but I think for a lot of them, it has been a real wake up call.”
