Majority of Iowa GOP Caucus endorses DeSantis: report

Over one-third of Iowa's Republican legislators have endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Politico reports.
DeSantis is expected to announce his bid to secure the 2024 GOP nomination over former President Donald Trump in the coming weeks.
The governor's super PAC, Never Back Down, is set to announce the full list of endorsements Friday ahead of DeSantis' second Iowa visit this weekend, according to Politico, "where he will appear at a picnic hosted in Sioux Center by Iowa GOP Rep. Randy Feenstra, who has yet to endorse in the primary."

The publication reports the list of Republican lawmakers "far outpaces the amount of support received by any of the Republican candidates who ran in the 2016 GOP primary," although, Trump "is expected to announce the backing of nearly 150 county leaders and grassroots activists, according to a person familiar with the plans."
The MAGA candidate has revealed endorsements from only 11 Iowa lawmakers so far.
Despite the governor's endorsements, Politico reported earlier this week, "Trump's advantage appears to be growing in the 2024 Republican presidential primary."
Election analyst Seth Masket wrote the former president "is regaining favor with once skeptical Republican grassroots leaders — largely at the expense of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — according to my latest survey," adding that he surveyed "roughly 3000 GOP county chairs" finding support for DeSantis as a possible presidential candidate is "softening."
