'Loser' Donald Trump is 'hoarding' millions in GOP midterm election money for himself: report

Former President Donald Trump is keeping a large portion of $147 million in super PAC funds – originally raised to support GOP candidates – for his 2024 presidential campaign, HuffPost reports.
The breakdown of funds he’s stashing includes $60 million that he transferred from one super PAC (Save America) – to another: Make America Great Again (MAGA) Inc., the super PAC originally launched to support GOP candidates; $9 million from a pro-Trump super PAC and $4 million from new donors.
Huffpost says that of the above total of $73 million, only $15 million was allotted to GOP races, and none went to Georgia’s run-off election to support Herschel Walker’s campaign.

A former official in the House, Rory Cooper essentially believes this is typical behavior coming from Trump. “It’s so obvious to the point of cliche at this point that Trump is in this for one person and one person alone, himself,” Cooper said. “He steals fundraising, picks lousy candidates, and is an anchor in competitive races, so one would wonder how much longer the party tolerates this loser nonsense.”
Long-time GOP member and former advisor to George W. Bush, Scott Jennings, added his take on Trump’s “hoarding,” saying it “wasn’t helpful, especially since he dragged most of these losing candidates into the races they eventually lost.”
However, California RNC member and one of Trump’s lawyers, Harmeet Dhillon has a different outlook on Trump’s fundraising money management. She talked about the need for Republicans to “modernize to compete with the Democrats dollar-for-dollar in the ways they fundraise.” But, HuffPost says that – ironically – Dhillon did not say Save America managed to bring in a total of $147 million.
Recognizing this move to hoard fundraising money is a self-serving one, an analyst with the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington Robert Maguire concluded, “So he used the midterms as an excuse to dump piles of money into a super PAC that was always meant for Trump’s favorite candidate: himself.”
