'Trolling for attention': MAGA conspiracy theorist ramps up 'virulent' attacks on Trump ally

During Donald Trump's 2024 campaign, billionaire Tesla/SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and far-right MAGA conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer were among his aggressive, outspoken supporters. Musk was a major donor, and Loomer traveled with Trump's campaign.

Trump has proposed a new advisory committee that would be called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and he has chosen Musk and MAGA businessman Vivek Ramaswamy to lead it. But Loomer has been expressing her disdain for Musk and loudly questioning his MAGA credentials.

In a Christmas 2024 post on the Musk-owned X, formerly Twitter, Loomer wrote, "Is DOGE real? Or is it a vanity project? Can we have this conversation without people crying?"

The following day, Loomer tweeted, "Is DOGE a way to 'cut spending' or REDIRECT the spending toward the pet projects of tech bro billionaires? It's looking like the latter TBH. 'Hey let's convince the peasants that we are saving them money as we enrich ourselves! Then when they find out and speak out, we will have the Indian Mods Ban them!'"

Loomer, in a separate December 26 tweet, predicted that Trump and Musk will have a falling out.

The Florida-based conspiracy theorist posted, "Don't worry guys. The divorce is coming soon."

Musk was dismissive of Loomer's posts, tweeting, "Loomer is trolling for attention. Ignore."

But Loomer has continued her attacks on Musk.

Loomer also tweeted, "The elephant in the room is that @elonmusk, who is not MAGA and never has been, is a total fucking drag on the Trump transition. @realDonaldTrump He's a stage 5 clinger who over stayed his welcome at Mar a Lago in an effort to become Trump's side piece and be the point man for all of his accomplices in big Tech to slither in to Mar a Lago."

The New Republic's Hafiz Rashid noted the "racism" that has been evident in Loomer's tweets.

Rashid, in an article published on December 26, wrote, "Loomer, renowned for her Islamophobia, racism, and conspiracy theories, appears to be opposing Musk for those very reasons, as her virulent racism drives her anti-immigration views. Her attacks on Musk are flavored with that racism, from her invoking of China to repeated attacks on people from India."
