'Try to crap on this endorsement': Experts respond to LeBron James’ 'vote Kamala Harris' post

National Basketball League (NBA) star LeBron James endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in a social media post Thursday.

James, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, shared a wrote vi X: "What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!"

His post also included a minute-long video of comments made by Donald Trump over a span of decades, and ends with a quote across the screen, reading: "Hate takes us back."

The New York Times notes that James has long supported Democratic candidates. "In 2008, he hosted a free concert by Jay-Z in Cleveland in support of Barack Obama’s successful bid for the presidency. He campaigned for Hillary Clinton in 2016, introducing her at a rally in Ohio, and wrote an opinion essay supporting her campaign."
Several journalists and political experts shared their thoughts on the NBA veteran's endorsement.

CBS News' Carl Quintanilla replied: "53 million followers."

Political analyst Nia Malikah Henderson said: "The. King."

Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan commented: "LeBron reminding Americans of the open racism and white supremacy at the core of the Trump campaign - something the media has failed to do, time and time again."

The Independent's DC Bureau Chief, Eric Michael Garcia noted: "Again, Black male pundits and athletes from Kendrick Perkins, Doc River, Stephen A Smith, Charlamagne tha God and Shannon Sharpe have shown up for Harris in recent weeks. Now, she gets the big one: LeBron James."

The Lincoln project's Rick Wilson wrote: "Please please please Trump, try to crap on this endorsement."
