Far-right Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) has maintained a hyper-MAGA focus during her two terms in Congress. Boebert, a Donald Trump loyalist, has been highly critical of the GOP establishment and often recites MAGA rhetoric — promising to "drain the swamp" and claiming to detest the "Washington way of pandering to lobbyists, special-interest groups, and partisan politics."

But according to Business Insider's Brent D. Griffiths, Boebert has rented an apartment in Washington, D.C. from an exec for Americans for Prosperity — the advocacy group associated with billionaire Charles Koch and his late brother David Koch.

"There are no ethics rules or laws that bar members of Congress from renting apartments from people affiliated with lobbying groups," Griffiths explains. "But the arrangement is an indicator of how small Washington, D.C. can be, and how closely entwined Washington legislators can become with the people who are paid to influence them."

Griffiths, however, notes that Boebert "differs from Americans for Prosperity on some points."

"Boebert is far more restrictive when it comes to immigration, a major departure from the Koch-backed groups that have previously pushed for legal status for so-called 'Dreamers,'" Griffiths observes. "The Kochs have also launched an effort to deny Trump the GOP presidential nomination; Boebert supports him."

Griffiths adds that Boebert, according to government ethics experts, "is not violating any rules by renting from someone who helps run an advocacy group, as long as she pays the market rate."
