Dem strategist: 'The level of talent in the party is as high as any party has ever had in my lifetime'

Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville slammed the “No Labels” party, warning the group is serving U.S. voters “a good line of f—ing bullshit.”
“No Labels is my favorite,” Carville said in an interview with The Hill published Friday. “They won’t tell you where their money comes from; they say they’re funded by undisclosed corporate dark money. And they won’t take a position on anything.”
“But yet they’re offering the American people something new and fresh,” Carville continued. “That’s a good line of f—ing bulls—t there.”

In a wide-ranging interview, Carville wondered “how much longer” former President Donald Trump “can live” with the “stress” of his indictments, and praised “the level of talent” in his own party.
“First of all, I don’t know how much longer [Trump] can live at this rate and this kind of stress,” Carville told The Hill.
Carville argued that the Republican Party would be at a standstill without the former president.
“If something happened, he’s convicted — I don’t know what — I think they hate everybody in the field, and everybody that’s run against him, in their mind, is aiding and abetting the enemy,” Carville said.

“I love the Tim Scott boom,” he continued. “But it’s free parking. And every time I get one of these kind of Republicans that you can tell don’t like Trump, they might be interested in Tim Scott. He’s got a good way about him”
“OK fine, he’s never passed a bill and believes in celibacy,” Carville added. "I don’t think that’s the way most people are. But what do I know?”
Turning to his own party, Carville called the Democratic talent pool “breathtaking.”

“So many people, it’s breathtaking,” Carville said. “The level of talent in the Democratic party in 2023 is — and I say this with great conference — is as high as any political party has ever had in my lifetime, which is 1944.”
Calling concerns about the Democratic bench “the greatest myth in American politics,” Carville praised Democrats like Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear.
“We got a bench that’s 100,” Carville said. “The whole sideline is our bench.”
Carville conceded that President Joe Biden’s “approval rating is historically not very good, the direction of the country is historically bad” and the “image of the party is not much.”
“But we don’t lose elections,” he insisted. “We just don’t.”
