CNN host can’t contain laughter over ex-Trump lawyer’s made-up phrase
Jim Trusty, the former Donald Trump lawyer who pulled out of representing the ex-president in his classified documents case, alleged on Wednesday that special counsel Jack Smith's latest 165-page filing is mostly for "public consumption."
One of the many allegations in Smith's filing include that the 2024 GOP nominee "resorted to crimes to try to stay in office" after losing to President Joe Biden in 2020, and that he didn't seem to care that former Vice President Mike Pence was in danger during the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.
Speaking with CNN's The Source with Kaitlin Collins host Kaitlin Collins, Trusty alleged that the special counsel's extensive filing is mostly for "public consumption."

"This is 165 pages!" Trusty declared. "It includes a ton of gratuitous information. A lot of what I'd say is optimistic information when it comes to Mike Pence and [former Trump Chief of Staff] Mark Meadows."
Claiming that Smith just wants to win the court of public opinion, the former Trump lawyer said, "You're talking about the politicized process of challenging an election. Very publicly in many instances by this president, becoming the new ground for criminal prosecution. Not for insurrection, but for insurrection light."
Collins laughed as she repeated the phrase.
"Insurrection light is a new one. We'll see where that goes from there."
