Early February has found Republicans suffering from major chaos in both branches of Congress.

A GOP-led effort to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas failed in the U.S. House of Representatives, and a bipartisan bill tying enhanced U.S./Mexico border security to military aid to Ukraine has been derailed in the U.S. Senate.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) declared that if the border/Ukraine bill passed in the Senate, it would be "dead on arrival" in the House. But the deal, much to the frustration of centrist Senators Kyrsten Sinema (I-Arizona) and Joe Manchin (R-West Virginia), has been shot down by Senate Republicans.

In a report published on February 8, CNN journalists Melanie Zanona, Annie Grayer and Manu Raju stress that the "chaos" among Republicans in Congress has reached "new heights."

One of the Republicans expressing his frustration is Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas), who told CNN, "I had many people reach out to me via text message and say, 'What the hell are you guys doing up there?' I think our base is a little frustrated. We may have the gavel, but we're not acting like we're in the majority."

Similarly, Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) told CNN, "I was embarrassed for our conference, for our party, because we can do better than we did last night."

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) is frustrated as well.

The moderate conservative told CNN, "I have a difficult time understanding again how anyone else in the future is going to want to be on that negotiating team — on anything — if we are going to be against it…. I've gone through the multiple stages of grief. Today, I'm just pissed off."
