Election 2024

With the 2024 presidential election less than two weeks away, Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump are doing their most aggressive campaigning in seven battleground states.

Trump is almost certain to carry deep-red states like Mississippi, Idaho, Alabama, Wyoming and Arkansas, while Harris is almost certain to prevail in Massachusetts, California, Maryland and other deep-blue states. And it is seven swing states — Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia and North Carolina — that will ultimately sway the election in either Harris' or Trump's favor.

Yet according to Salon's Brian Karem, some conservative red state residents are suffering from Trump fatigue.

In an article published on October 24, Karem reports that he recently "visited 15 states in 21 days" — including deep red states like Utah, Kentucky, Kansas and West Virginia. And he details his conversations with red state and swing state voters who have come to find Trump exhausting.

A Nevada voter told Karem, "I voted for him twice. Never again…. I'm holding my nose and voting for Harris. At least she's not insane.”

An Indiana woman told Karem, "If you think I'd vote against women's rights, you're as dumb as my husband."

In West Virginia, a male voter told Karem, "Even a tweaker knows better than to vote for Trump…. The economy was better when he was in office, so you know he's going to win West Virginia real easy. No one around here is for Harris."

Karem heard the phrase "hold my nose" a lot during his travels.

"Harris may own the 'hold your nose' vote this year," Karem observes. "No one is holding their nose and voting for Trump. His supporters are all in."
