House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said in an interview on Sunday former Vice President Mike Pence "has embarrassed himself" by condemning Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, instead of holding former President Donald Trump accountable for his actions.

The Daily Beast reports:

Pence appeared on ABC's This Week, where he told host Jonathan Karl that a Trump indictment by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg would simply indulge the 'radical left.'

Furthermore, according to The Daily Beast, the former vice president said, "I'm taken aback at the idea of indicting a former president of the United States, at a time when there's a crime wave in New York City. The fact that the Manhattan DA thinks that indicting President Trump is his top priority, I think… just tells you everything you need to know about the radical left in this country."

@Acyn shared a clip from Jeffrie's interview with MSNBC's Inside with Jen Psaki via Twitter, writing, "Jeffries: Pence knows better and he has embarrassed himself and that’s unfortunate."

Psaki, who is President Joe Biden's former White House press secretary, said to Jeffries, "This is a guy who the mob tried to hang back on January 6th. He is criticizing the district attorney in those comments instead of Trump's own language."

Per The Washington Post, Pence recently said, "President Trump was wrong. I had no right to overturn the election. And his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day. And I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable."

Psaki asked Jeffries about his reaction to the ex-vice president's criticism of Bragg.

After asserting Pence "knows better," the congressional leader continued, "George Washington, in his farewell address to the nation, said the Constitution is sacredly obligatory upon all."

He emphasized, "that means everyone — that include's former presidents of the United States of America, because in this great country of ours, no one is above the law. That is the defining principle of the Republic, and has been the case for 247 years."
